Questions you must ask a chauffeur service before hiring

October 15, 2013

If you’re in need of a chauffeur service then you’re going to want to make sure that you choose one that’s qualified and experienced. But how can you check this?

Well we’ve outlined a few questions that you should ask of every chauffeur service before you hand over any money. Let’s jump in…

How much experience do they have?

The most important question is how experienced they are. Ideally you want someone who’s been operating within the industry for years. Why? Because they know what works and what doesn’t. They understand the importance of keeping their vehicles pristine. They can get you from A to B reliably.

In-experienced chauffeur companies are probably a little cheaper, but they’re probably still working things out too. Look for at least a year’s experience.

How do they vet their drivers?

Secondly you should ask about their employment methods. You need to be sure that they’ve thoroughly checked each and every driver they employ. This means that their driving history has been looked at and they’ve been put through their paces.

You don’t want a driver with points on their license giving you a tour around London do you? You want someone who has plenty of experience behind the wheel and are renowned for their reliability.

Which cars are in their fleet?

Now that you’re sure that both the company and the drivers they hire are experienced and trustworthy it’s time to find out which cars they use. If you’re travelling in a large group, you’re going to need a car that car accommodate you all. Or, if you’re travelling to a business meeting, then you’re going to want something fitting of the occasion.

Make sure that they have the vehicle that’s right for your purpose and if they don’t, ask if they can get it!

How often are the vehicles serviced?

You should also ask about the conditions of the vehicles. How long have they been on the road? Have they been in any accidents or failed MOTs in the past? It’s all very well and good your driver having plenty of experience, but if the car is unsafe it’s putting you at risk.

It might sound like a picky question on the surface but it’s one that you should definitely ask.

Where do they operate?

Lastly, ask them how far out of their headquarters they operate. This is especially important if you’re looking to travel long distances with them. For most chauffeur services this won’t be a problem, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
